We collaborated with the Boston Society of Landscape Architects (BSLA) to host a lively Par(king) Day on September 15, 2023 from 8AM-4PM. The deployment took place outside Friendly’s ice cream, which proved a popular spot for middle schoolers once they got out of school. We occupied two parking spaces outside of Friendly’s on Main Street so we were very visible to cars passing by. Multiple folks stopped in their cars to say hello and many sidewalk passersby paused to chat and learn about ParKit. The collaboration with BSLA was productive. They brought a “Pose as a Pollinator” station, which included a pollinator garden poster, bug-eye glasses, and costume bees wings. BSLA also collaborated with a local plant nursery to bring live greenery to the ParKit. We gave away small potted plants, which brought in many folks. Several other local landscape architecture firms were in attendance and the mood was generally cheerful. We are excited to collaborate with these groups again next year!
